The pump isn't what governs rpm. The vp44 also wont fuel at that high of a rpm due to the physical design of the pump. Rotary pumps loose the ablity to fuel as rpms increase. Two more hours trying to get the piece of the driver out of the screw. Not much chance now but to drill the head off of the screw. The most common cause of VP44 failure is lack of fuel.
